As professor of systematic theology at Calvin Theological Seminary for many years, Fred Klooster devoted many hours of research to the Heidelberg Catechism. According to his widow, Leona Klooster, he fell in love with the Catechism while preparing for the Catechism's 400th anniversary in 1963. His most well-known work on the Catechism is "'Our only Comfort: A Comprehensive Commentary on the Heidelberg Catechism."

Now his previously unpublished studies on the history of the Catechism are widely available via our website for the first time. His entire work, "The Heidelberg Catechism: Origin and History" is available. We've also taken some pertinent chapters and uploaded them as separate articles in order to make the information a bit easier to find.

We want to sincerely thank Leona Klooster for graciously making her husband's material available.
